Youthlinc has partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah for the third year to host massive clothing drives to fundraise money for program support. Each year Youthlinc’s Service Year teams work together to collect donated clothes from people in their own community, and then with the help of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah, those donated items can be turned into cash by selling them to Savers where the clothing is sold in stores, repurposed into shredded fabric housing insulation, or sold to international second-hand markets. That money is then used to support each team’s community health, education, vocational, business, cultural, and environmental initiatives.

In the month of March, for three Saturdays, four teams will meet at designated times in the Youthlinc parking lot, where they will completely fill at least two semi trailers. Each team is responsible for collecting 15,000 lbs of clothing which will result in $3,750 in project funds. For the past three years our hard working teams have surpassed this goal and filled over 5 semi trailers, proving that all their hard work really pays off. We have no doubt that we can do it again, but we are going to need everyone’s help!

The impact that this fundraiser has is more than what people realize. It not only helps Youthlinc’s teams complete sustainable projects, it promotes Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah’s mentoring program for kids who need it most, and it takes unwanted disposable items to be repurposed and out of our landfills.  If you want to make a donation or have any questions, please contact Youthlinc at office@youthlinc.org or 801-467-4417.
