Youthlinc held our Annual Benefit on Saturday, August 26 at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. The theme this year was “Worlds Fair” and we did things a little differently than in the past.
During the beautiful international silent auction, Youthlinc alums that had just returned from our international sites were stationed at the tables with displays about their impact– like a Worlds Fair. They spoke directly to the attendees of the benefit about their experiences doing service this past year locally and internationally. We were able to celebrate the impact and recognize the many projects that were accomplished abroad this past summer.
We enjoyed hors d’oeuvres from around the world: pineapple with tajin from Fiji, Incan corn from Peru, and plantain chips with Kenyan chimichurri sauce. This was followed by a fantastic Thai dinner catered by Aranya Thai Kitchen. You should go check them out at their restaurant at 60 E 800 S in Salt Lake City.
Lastly, we had a brief program where we honored the legacy of Judy Zone, our founder, heard about the winners of the Young Humanitarian Award and the Real Life scholarship award winners, and raised $20,000 in 10 minutes during the sponsorship appeal! Wow, what a night!
Thank you to all of the donors large and small that made the event an absolute success! All of the proceeds from this event will go to support students going through the Service Year so that they can take part in our transformational program and become lifetime humanitarians.
